Frequently Asked Questions

\## Q1. What if I just want a pet dog? I’m not interested in dog sports or protection training. Within every litter, there will be different temperaments and different working potentials. Just like any bunch of brothers and sisters in a family, each child has different interests as well as different levels of intellectual and physical abilities. They are each unique. We will attempt to match you up with the puppy that suits your lifestyle. ## Q2. Are your dogs aggressive? Our dogs have breed-appropriate levels of aggression. They are bred to be strong, confident dogs and as such are best suited to experienced owners. Working Line dogs have more natural ability to do guard and protection work because they have been bred for work ability over many generations. However, protection or sports like IGP teach very specific skills that must be carefully trained into the dog. Dogs are not born with these skills. In particular, training in guard and protection does not create an aggressive dog. In fact a skillfully trained protection dog is an ultra-safe dog because it has been trained to extremely high levels of obedience and impulse control through extreme distraction. Truthfully, dog aggression is one of the most common reasons clients seek help from a trainer. These aggressive dogs are usually regular household dogs of all sorts (ie. mutts, males, females, all breeds, all sizes) that have developed aggression for many reasons, including lack of leadership, lack of effective training, lack of discipline and structure. ## Q3. Why are your puppies so expensive? Many people don't realize the high cost of ethical breeding. Our dogs are fed premium food to ensure good health, our breeding bitches receive regular medical checkups and health tests, and our breeding decisions rely on DNA tests to mitigate the risk of genetic abnormalities. Additionally, our breeding dogs are sourced from around the world as we seek only the best bloodlines. This applies to all our dogs. As it pertains to the BK Obedience Package, the first 6 months of your puppy’s life are the most difficult, time consuming period in your dog’s entire life. Just like bringing home a newborn baby, the time commitment and resources needed to ensure a healthy well-adjusted infant is high. The price includes the price of the puppy, feeding, housing and caring for 6 months, the BK Puppy Resilience Program, the BK Functional Obedience Program, all regular vaccinations needed for the first year of life, regular videos of your puppy sent to you so you can see how your little one is developing and training, puppy package, and ongoing support and advice for the life of the dog. ## Q4. Do you offer a guarantee on your puppies? Puppies are biological creatures, not manufactured products and, as such, it is impossible to provide a guarantee against all medical conditions. That said, we stand behind all of our puppies and, should your Black Kraken dog develop or be diagnosed with a genetic medical condition within 12 months of arriving in your home, we will provide you with a puppy from a subsequent litter free of charge. ## Q5. What is the puppy buying process? First, if you have any questions please feel free to contact us by phone or email. Once you are satisfied that a Black Kraken puppy is for you, and our application period opens, fill out our \[application\]\[1\] form and we will then follow up with a phone call to the number you provide. Once we have ensured that our puppies will be well suited to your home and needs, we will then take a deposit in order to reserve your dog. Every attempt will be made to place puppies in the order in which deposits are received. ##Q6. Do you have a wait list? No. Applications are reviewed for fit on a litter-by-litter basis and successful applicants are notified once we have confirmed the number of puppies in a litter. Priority is always given to sport and working homes. \[1\]: /application-form ##
